Music gives a soul to the universe, wings to the mind, flight to the
imagination, and life to everything.
-Plato
Every once in a while, it is helpful to reflect on
the importance of music in our lives, especially as we prepare for the 64th
Kiwanis Music Festival. As in years
past, music festivals provide opportunities for musicians to set goals,
practice, perform publicly, compete, and receive professional evaluation. The life lessons learned are invaluable and
hopefully, in the process of it all, they experience Plato’s vision of music.
Of course none of this would be possible without the dedication of the
many teachers, students and volunteers, especially the members of the Scotts
Plains Kiwanis Club, the Kiwanis Club of the Kawarthas and the Peterborough Kiwanis
Club. The members of these clubs volunteer to raise funds, organize and staff
the performance halls of the music festival.
As we draw closer to April, we invite you to visit our web-site for
information and performance schedules for the festival which runs from April 5th
to the 16th. As always, we
encourage you to enjoy the talent firsthand by visiting one of our many
performance halls or by attending the Concert of Stars, featuring some of the
outstanding festival performers, on Sunday, April 18th.
Sincerely,
Chairperson,
